Payroll setup moves into the app

Settings that used to live in server configuration are now managed in Mintage Payroll itself, with a guided setup tool for new companies.

From config files to screens

Over the years a number of payroll choices, such as which payslip template a company uses, how PAYE auto-adjust behaves and when a company's first payroll starts, had been controlled by settings on the server. That worked, but every change needed a technical hand and was easy to lose track of.

In September we moved those choices into the app. Existing values are imported automatically during upgrade, so nothing changes for a company that is already running. Pay calendars can now be managed from Period Mapping. To tie it together we built Mintage Start, a guided setup that walks through pay frequencies, the payslip template with a live PDF preview, tax rules and other options. For now it is available to our own support team, who use it when setting up new companies.

Payments, loans and statutory exports

We added an export in the ISO 20022 payment format, a widely used standard for bank payment files. Each company now has ten loan slots, with clearer loan cards showing each loan's name and the total coming off a payroll, and a series of fixes to running balances and reducing-balance loans. Combined NIS and PAYE exports can now be opened from any pay frequency, which matters for companies that run more than one, and second-job PAYE returned for monthly payrolls.

Administrators can sign in with Microsoft single sign-on, chosen per company. Payslips can go to both work and personal email, payroll supports up to 100 custom fields, and the working week used for overtime and loss time is now configurable. We added checks that find and repair statutory payroll inconsistencies, clearer import error reporting, and support for a client's cost-centre journal. September came to 302 commits.
