Expenses from a photo
The main addition this month is Expenses, for employers who switch it on in Workforce. An employee takes a photo of a receipt, chooses one from the phone, or picks a PDF. The receipt is read automatically, and the app fills in who was paid, the date, currency, total and category, flagging anything that looks wrong, such as a blurry or cut-off image or a receipt that may already have been filed. The employee checks the details, says whether they paid and need reimbursing or the company paid, adds a note and sends it to finance. Anyone can skip the wait and fill it in themselves.
The expenses list shows where each claim stands, from not yet sent to approved or returned with finance's note, and unfinished drafts can be picked up later.
Asking for changes to time
Several new requests let employees and supervisors sort out attendance without paperwork. While on the clock, an employee can ask for overtime in advance, giving hours and a reason, and change or withdraw it later. They can also ask for a clock-in, clock-out or break time from the past week to be corrected, and follow the request.
If a clock-in is refused by a site boundary check three times, the supervisor is notified and can clock that person in with one tap. Timeline entries a supervisor corrected or entered are now labelled as such.
Other changes
Leave can be requested in hours for hour-based types such as Personal Time. Employees without a profile photo are asked for a selfie. Job buttons are hidden for companies that do not use jobs. The app now supports iOS 15.6 and newer, and it opens on the new launch screen and app icon.
