Opening payroll to employees

November turned last month's groundwork into something people could use. Each team member's record now has a Self Service tab, and from it payroll staff can send an invitation email. Employees can upload documents, and payroll staff approve or reject each one by clicking its status. Much of the month's backend activity went into the file upload and employee modules behind this.

We also built a data sync module. When employee details come from another system, the changes now go to a review table instead of being applied straight away. Payroll staff can sync by hand, reject a change, and see a count of what is waiting. While sync is on, employees cannot be added or edited by hand, so the two sources do not conflict.

Filing and banking

On the tax side, we added a GRA Form 7B export and spent several commits on its date ranges, its bimonthly output and how it reflects PAYE updates. We added a gross-up option for PAYE, fixed an NIS edge case, and corrected an age calculation used for weekly payrolls.

Payroll gained two more bank transfer file formats. Report export ranges can now be unlocked for specific companies. The payroll assignment form marks its required fields, and taxable allowances can be adjusted with a description. We also removed old time-off, emergency contact and compensation code from the payroll core, and the 'S' key save shortcut in payroll dialogs, after it proved too easy to trigger by accident. There were 460 commits this month.
