Moving payroll onto the 2025 NIS settings

A shorter month. We set up the 2025 NIS deduction for every pay frequency, added Outlook as a way to send email, and started on employee self-service.

NIS for 2025

October had fewer commits, 66 in total, but it included a change every payroll depends on. We added a 2025 NIS deduction for employees and employers, enabled it for monthly, bimonthly, fortnightly and weekly payrolls, and turned off the 2023 settings it replaces. As with PAYE in February, the old rules were kept, so earlier periods still show the figures they were calculated with. A few follow-up fixes later in the year made sure the 2023 settings stayed off for every frequency.

A separate command now copies PAYE child allowance settings from one pay frequency to another. This is useful when a company runs more than one payroll and the children recorded for an employee should be the same in each.

Email and self-service groundwork

We added a mail settings page in English and Spanish. On it, a company can connect an Outlook mailbox and send payroll email from its own address. The page shows which address is connected and whether Outlook will be used.

At the end of the month we added the first pieces of an employee self-service module, with its own sign-in setup and the first endpoints for it in the payroll backend. Nothing was ready for employees yet. This was groundwork for the work in the following two months. Smaller changes rounded out the month: team member lists can now show inactive users, pagination was adjusted, and the employee import and bank reports were updated.
