A name
After more than a year with almost no changes, work on the HR front end picked up again in November. The first thing it got was its name. On 16 November the app was renamed Workforce, the name it carries today as part of the Mintage family. New logos followed at the end of the month, along with an updated sidebar and home page.
Self-service invitations
The main new feature was a self-service tab on each employee's profile. From there, HR can send an invitation email that gives the employee their own access. The button disables itself while an invitation is being sent, so an impatient double click does not send two. The text on the tab was written directly in plain English rather than through translation keys, which made it quicker to adjust.
This was the first step toward something that matters a lot in the later product: employees seeing their own information, rather than asking HR for it. In the rebuilt Workforce, that role is played by invitations to Connect, our employee app.
Sign-in, refreshed
The rest of the month went into the sign-in pages. The password page, the email sign-in link page and the two-step verification page were all updated, and a link was added so people on the password page can switch to signing in by email instead. A couple of package updates and a reverted fix round out the month's 23 commits.
