Last touches before a long pause

Three small changes to job, pay and time-off defaults. After this month the first Workforce front end went quiet for over a year.

Three small changes

September had three commits, all made in the first week of the month. New employees are now given a default time-off policy, so no one is left without one by accident. The job and pay section of the employee record was cleaned up. And the date of employment became a field in its own right.

Each of these is small, but each removes a gap that would otherwise show up later as a missing balance or an incomplete record. The date of employment in particular matters for HR work, since length of service drives things such as leave entitlements, and a default policy means a new hire's balance starts building from day one.

A pause, honestly told

After these commits, the first Workforce front end saw little or no change for more than a year. There are no months worth reporting between October 2024 and October 2025; this journal leaves out months with only one or two commits, which is why the next article jumps straight to November 2025.

Looking back, this early version did its job. It proved out ideas such as time-off policies with accruals, a tracker with running balances, recruiting pages and an employee directory. When work resumed, first with a rename in November 2025 and then with a full rebuild in early 2026, those ideas carried over even though most of the code did not.
