Writing off balances
The main addition this month was the ability to write off a time-off balance. When an employee leaves, or a policy says unused time does not carry forward, HR needs a clean way to clear what is left. The write-off only applies to a positive balance, so it cannot be used to create a debt by mistake. Because the write-off is recorded on the employee's time-off tab, the history still explains how the balance reached zero.
Seeing everyone, not just active staff
The team list learned about the different stages of employment. Employees who are still being onboarded and employees who are no longer active now have their own views, and pending employees appear alongside the rest. A layout overflow on the list was also fixed.
This sounds simple, but it reflects how HR actually works: people join over several days or weeks, and records of people who have left still matter.
National insurance details
The forms for adding and editing a team member gained an optional section for when the name on an employee's national insurance card differs from their legal name, which happens more often than you might expect. The section stays collapsed unless it is switched on, so it adds nothing to the form for most employees. The national insurance number itself is now checked for a sensible format before it is saved. Getting this right matters, because these details flow through to payroll.
