Polishing the directory
July was a quiet month with eight commits, all of them refinements. The team list now shows each employee's photo, which makes a long list much easier to scan. When an organisation has no team members yet, the page shows a clear empty state instead of a blank table. A small connection indicator that had been shown on screen was removed, since it meant nothing to HR users. Some code that had been commented out during testing was also restored, putting the pages back to their intended behaviour.
Putting time off right
Two changes made time-off records easier to correct. A regenerate button came back to the employee's time-off tab. It recalculates the employee's time-off deductions and reloads their requests, which is useful after a policy or an earlier request changes. It now shows a loading state so it is clear something is happening.
Admins can also delete an adjustment they made to a balance. Before this, a mistaken adjustment could only be cancelled out by another one, which left a confusing trail.
Behind the scenes
The app now handles an expired or invalid sign-in properly, sending the user back to sign in rather than leaving them on a page that cannot load. These are small changes, but they are the kind people notice when they are missing. July was also a sign of the pace to come: after the burst of work in June, the second half of 2024 was mostly about refinement.
