Where, as well as when
Face-checked clock-ins answered the question of who was clocking in. This month we added where. When an employee clocks in or out, Connect now sends the phone's location along with the photo, so an employer can confirm the punch happened at the right site.
A rough location is not much use for this, so the app now checks that it has a precise position before uploading the clock photo. If the phone only has an approximate fix, the employee is asked to allow precise location instead of having a vague position recorded silently.
Permissions done properly
Using location means asking for permission, and both iOS and Android expect apps to explain why. We added the explanation iOS shows employees and declared the location permissions Android requires. Getting this right matters for app store review and, more importantly, for employees deciding whether to trust the app.
Fixes
We fixed a crash reported early in the month, and padded the face registration screens so their buttons sit above Android's navigation bar instead of behind it. After registering a face, the app now returns the employee to the attendance screen with the result, rather than leaving them to find their way back. The home greeting uses the full name from the employee's profile.
It was a smaller month, focused on making the new attendance feature dependable rather than adding new screens.
