Sending payslips in batches

May was a quieter month, and an honest article says so. The main change was to electronic payslips. Email and WhatsApp payslips are now sent in batches with a rate limit, so a large payroll goes out at a steady pace instead of all at once. Users will barely notice it, but it makes payday deliveries more predictable.

Next to that, we added a salary note field, a child allowance report, and a few new reports and template updates. Most of the backend commits this month were small updates to the payroll, reporting and payslip modules, which is typical of a month spent supporting live payrolls rather than building something new.

Smaller fixes

The file merger tool now accepts text files and merges NIS files as plain text, so it no longer adds quotes or blank lines that a submission file should not contain. The download name for merged files can also be set. The gross salary calculator now takes a number of children and an overtime amount for 2025, so it matches what the payroll itself calculates.

We raised the limit on amount fields to 100 million, made dates display the same way in every time zone, fixed menu highlighting, and added a custom import for a scheduling system's time exports. A public holiday date in the seed data had the wrong year, and we fixed it. We also updated the project's dependencies. There were 171 commits this month.
