Paying people, not just calculating
Once payroll is approved, someone still has to move the money. Most banks accept a file listing who to pay and how much, but each bank wants its own layout. In October we added bank reports for several local banks, so the payment file can come straight out of Mintage instead of being retyped. The files are built from the payment preferences already stored for each employee, so there is no second list of account numbers to keep in step.
The bank files include only employees who are paid by bank transfer. Cheque and wire payments are left out.
Small but useful options
Companies can now write their own message for payslip emails, and choose how many decimal places they want to see on screen. We switched the employee age calculation to its 2024 version, which matters for NIS rules, and fixed how the period worked is shown.
We also tried adding currency conversion to exports. After a few days of testing we took the option back out of the interface for now.
A quieter month
October was one of the lighter months of the year, with 76 commits. Alongside the bank files, we added a new report, updated exports and made changes to the billing module. Not every month needs a headline feature; sometimes the most useful thing is to close the gap between payroll and the bank.
