Making the monthly routine smoother

June focused on the small things payroll teams do every period: carrying employees forward, payment preferences, and checking TIN and NIS numbers.

Carrying work forward

After a very large May, June was about polishing the everyday routine. The biggest addition was the ability to copy an employee's details forward to the next month. Once a payroll is right, it can be carried into the next period instead of being entered again, with a typed confirmation to make sure it is deliberate. A matching option lets a single employee's payroll be reprocessed on its own.

Better data, fewer surprises

TIN and NIS numbers are now checked for the right format when an employee is edited. NIS numbers in the real world come in a few shapes, so we relaxed the rules to accept lower case letters, dashes and dots. Employee numbers are no longer required.

Payment preferences were refined: switching to cash clears the bank account details but keeps the recipients, and zero amounts are now allowed where they make sense, including loan paybacks. Payroll search now runs on the server, with a loader while results come back.

Other highlights

Employees gained a notes tab. Payslips can carry a footnote. A sports club deduction was added, and a chart now shows how many payslips went out by email and WhatsApp. We built custom reports for a client, fixed a case where a bonus was labelled incorrectly, and at the end of the month started a new module for pension fund history. June closed with 158 commits.
