Editing payroll, line by line

With settings and employees in place, April was about the screen people spend most of their time on: the payroll table. The new page shows each employee's pay for the period, and every editable figure opens a focused dialog. By the end of the month there were dialogs for basic salary, overtime and loss time, other salaries, other deductions, non-taxable allowances, and NIS and PAYE.

Changes now show up in the table straight away, without a page reload. Columns can be hidden or shown, taxable allowance and loan columns were added, and multi-select lists make it quicker to apply several items at once. We also added validation to each dialog, and some formulas lock their amount fields with a short note explaining why.

Getting data in and out

A new export page brought PAYE and NIS exports into the app, along with export settings. A new import page lets teams bring in employee data, with optional columns for fields they do not always use. NIS and PAYE pages, a benefits page (renamed from insurance), and a public holidays module also arrived.

Sign-in and the backend

The login page was rebuilt, with magic links, two-factor authentication, a profile page and a change password screen. On the backend, we fixed GRA Form 7B edge cases, added an option to leave non-taxable items off Form 7B, corrected rounding of insurable income and the employer NIS share, and added salary notes. It was a busy month, with 311 commits.
