Exports you can file
Running payroll is only half the job. Every month, employers also have to send figures to GRA and NIS in the formats those systems expect. In February we focused on making those files come straight out of Mintage, ready to submit.
On the NIS side, the electronic schedule can now be produced for a range of periods instead of one at a time, a new NIS online text file was added, and the offline NIS form was replaced with an updated version that also covers weekly payrolls. For GRA, we added Form 2A in both a formatted version and a CSV version for online filing, and we updated the weekly GRA Form 7B report. Employers can also choose whether overtime is shown separately on Form 7B.
Getting year-to-date right
Year-to-date figures are easy to get wrong when a company joins partway through the year. We fixed YTD totals for companies without a full year of history, made YTD update correctly for each period, and fixed the weekly and fortnightly cases. Taxable income can no longer drop below zero in the totals.
Smaller changes
A deduction for medical and life insurance premiums was added, along with non-taxable allowances in the relevant reports. A new PDF template arrived with its own fonts, and we added more PDF document types to the generator. The payroll list can now be filtered by the departments actually in use. Across 128 commits, most of the work landed in the payroll module itself.
