A maintenance month: currency and rate-based pay

A short month. Payslips stopped hard-coding the currency, rate-based pay lines show their working, and a PAYE worksheet calculation was corrected.

A maintenance month

August was quiet, but a few of the changes inside the payroll modules are worth explaining.

Until now, payslips said Guyana Dollars in their headings, written directly into the template. We changed this so the currency comes from settings: payslips show the full currency name, and spreadsheet exports use a matching number format. Guyanese dollars remain the default. Underneath, a small new helper turns a short currency code into its full name, which keeps country-specific text out of the payslip template. It is a small step, but it removes one more assumption from the product.

Showing the working

June's custom pay lines gained two more formulas: days times a rate, and hours times a rate. On the payslip these lines now show the number of days or hours and the rate next to the amount, so an employee can see exactly how a figure was reached. Lines paid as a fixed amount, time-and-a-half or double time are laid out consistently alongside them, and basic salary rows only appear when there is something to show.

We also corrected the PAYE figure on the manual PAYE worksheets for monthly, fortnightly and weekly payroll, and moved the rounding decision into one place in the engine, rather than a fixed rule repeated in many files.

The rest of the month was routine upkeep: a runtime update and refreshed dependencies.
