Time-off requests and balances

August built time-off requests on top of July's groundwork: balances, approvals and admin adjustments, plus document uploads on employee profiles.

Requests that do something

With the time-off data model in place, August was about making it work. We added a policy engine that calculates and updates each employee's balance under their policy, and a tracker that records how each request affects that balance. Requests can now be approved, declined, deleted and restored, and an administrator can make an adjustment when a balance needs correcting by hand.

Mintage checks that an employee is enrolled in the right policy before a request goes through, can list employees by policy, and shows the current balance next to each request. A setup command loads the default HR data for a new company.

Documents on file

Employee profiles can now hold documents such as contracts or ID copies. Files are stored encrypted, keep their original names, and can be listed and downloaded from the profile. A month later we added the ability to delete them.

Payroll housekeeping

On the payroll side we added an overtime allowance at double time, an option to override a PAYE refund, and a payment file in the format one bank expects for salary uploads. Employee lists can be sorted by last name for companies that prefer it, bank sheets are sorted by payee, and the GRA Form 7B export gained clearer labels for phone, travel and other allowances. August was a lighter month.
