Form 7B, filled for you
Form 7B is the annual return employers give GRA for each employee's income and tax. Filling it in by hand from a year of payroll records is tedious work. In March we added a Form 7B export that pulls the figures from Mintage and writes them into the official PDF form using a form-filling tool on the server, producing completed forms ready to submit. A few follow-up fixes the same week added more fields and corrected addresses and total income.
Cleaner filings
NIS and PAYE exports got a lot of attention. Weekly payrolls can now produce the NIS online file with the right weekly dates, values are padded and stray leading zeros removed, and employees who are disabled, or whose PAYE is switched off, are left out of the files. We also added a fix for duplicate PAYE deductions, a problem that would otherwise show up as wrong totals on a return.
Other work
Loans are now managed apart from other deductions, which makes repayments easier to follow. The year-to-date engine was updated, custom formula classes can be added without disturbing the standard PAYE and NIS ones, and the split-payment engine now checks its amounts. Several new payslip and payroll sheet templates went in for clients, with highlighted totals on department and deduction sheets.
We also added error monitoring, so problems reach the team before a customer has to report them. That was 151 commits for the month.
